Delays to non-urgent blood tests – 28th Oct 2020
North Devon District Hospital regret to inform that problems with an NHS supplier, Roche, have led to a temporary shortage in some of the chemicals used to process test results (tests taken at the practice are processed by a dedicated lab at North Devon District Hospital).
This unfortunately means that some non-urgent tests have to be postponed in order to ensure that supplies are available for urgent testing.
Currently the lab can only receive samples from the surgery that have been identified by your Dr as clinically urgent. This includes:
if a test result is required for a change of medication
samples for oncology appointments or monitoring
samples for renal appointments or monitoring
to prevent admission to hospital or referral to ED
If your test is not urgent, we would be very grateful if you could wait 2 weeks before contacting the surgery.
Roche are working urgently to resolve this issue. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
