Accessibility Statement
In reference to www.gov.uk’s digital accessibility guidance * we have performed a thorough basic accessibility check for our website www.bidefordmc.com
Due to funding and resource pressures in general practice, it is understood that undertaking a comprehensive accessibility check would impact and impose a significant extra load on the surgery. Nevertheless, our internal web officer has made every effort to ensure our website meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
The following checks have been made in accordance with gov.uk’s accessibility check list
Text Content
-
headings are styled appropriately and correctly in sectional hierarchy
-
stylesheets – the WAVE web tool has been used to switch off stylesheets and check that pages can still be read.
-
instructions – we have avoided instructions like ‘click the image to navigate’, which may confuse people relying on assistive text.
-
links – links should clearly explain where they will take the user
-
titles – pages are titled appropriately, in order to avoid confusing users when searching for what they need.
Images, video and audio content
Images contain a meaningful accompanying text description and alternate text, so that users can still access relevant information even if they cannot see the image.
Videos which feature on our website have been made by third parties and stream in either You Tube or Vimeo players. Both of these players have the option to enable a transcript / subtitles.
Interactive tools and transactions
Our forms are created in Microsoft forms and feature the Immersive Reader. This is a tool that uses various techniques to assist users of all ages and abilities. It offers features like text-to-speech, customizable text preferences, grammar tools, and more. This tool helps to make forms more accessible and inclusive for all.
Form elements have been checked for behaving as expected. They have a meaningful description and any required fields will prompt a user on submission if they have inadvertently missed inputting the required information.
Links, buttons and form inputs are sized and spaced appropriately so that users do not accidentally select the wrong element.
PDFs and documents
These are currently being reviewed and updated.
