Dyspepsia in pregnancy is commonly due to acid reflux. Acid reflux is when acid from the stomach leaks up into the gullet (oesophagus). This may cause heartburn and other symptoms. Attention to diet and lifestyle may help to ease symptoms.
This is common & is helped by eating smaller more frequent meals, keeping alcohol to a minimum, raising the bedhead and using Gaviscon or Peptac after each meal & before bedtime.
Indigestion – also known as dyspepsia – in pregnancy is partly caused by hormonal changes, and in later pregnancy by the growing womb pressing on your stomach.
The high levels of hormones you produce early in pregnancy relax the muscles throughout your body. That includes your digestive system. This relaxation slows your digestive processes. After a meal, this can cause indigestion, which can leave you with bloating, heartburn, nausea or vomiting, bringing up fragments of food.
