Summary Care Record

BMC is the first practice in North Devon to go live with the Summary care record (on Friday 16th January 2012). The NHS Summary Care Record scheme has been introduced to help deliver better and safer care and give patients more choice about who they share their healthcare information with.

What is the NHS Summary Care Record?

The Summary Care Record contains basic information about:

any allergies you may have
unexpected reactions to medications
any prescriptions you have recently received.

The intention is to help clinicians in A & E Departments and ‘Out of Hours’ health services to give you safe, timely and effective treatment. Clinicians will only be allowed to access your record if they are authorised to do so and, even then, only if you give your express permission.

Monday - Thursday:

7am - 8am and/or 6.30pm - 7.30pm

All appointments are pre-bookable. If you do not need a same day appointment please ring between 9.30am to 5.30pm. We have a duty team to offer telephone advice and treatment after triage to patients who need to see a doctor on the same day.

The Doctors at the Medical Centre provide general medical services, health promotion advice and non general medical services.

The Practice Manager, the Reception Manager, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Receptionists, secretary, together with a team of Community Nurses, Health Visitors, Community Midwives, Community Psychiatric Nurses and a Hospice Nurse work with the Doctors to offer you a consistent quality service within available resources.
