Dr Mark Clayton – Dr Clayton has become a Fellow in the Royal College of GPs (FRCGP) in November 2011 after passing a set of vigorous assessment criteria. We congratulate him for his achievement.
Additional clinical expertise in our Treatment Room - Janine Baker, our Practice Nurse, gained 2 further qualifications: Diplomas in Asthma and Diploma in Diabetes. Mandy Budge, our Practice Nurse gained the Diploma in Diabetes. Well done and congratulations to Janine and Mandy. Clare Palmer-Head, Practice Nurse, has joined the Practice in early 2012 to lead the travel health clinic.
Retirement of Dr Kevin Brown - Dr Brown has decided to retire on 31st March 2012. He has been a GP in Bideford since 1981. His last working day in the practice is Friday 3rd February 2012.
Dr Richard Davies - The Partners have appointed Dr Davies to look after Dr Brown’s registered patients. Dr Davies is very keen to continue delivering the high standard of personal health care that we have been offering to our patients. He will be working full time and he is a qualified surgeon. His special clinical interests are family medicine and minor surgery.
Summary Care Record – BMC is the first practice in North Devon to go live with the Summary care record (on Friday 16th January 2012). The NHS Summary Care Record scheme has been introduced to help deliver better and safer care and give patients more choice about who they share their healthcare information with.
What is the NHS Summary Care Record?
The Summary Care Record contains basic information about:
- any allergies you may have,
- unexpected reactions to medications and
- any prescriptions you have recently received.
The intention is to help clinicians in A & E Departments and ‘Out of Hours’ health services to give you safe, timely and effective treatment. Clinicians will only be allowed to access your record if they are authorised to do so and, even then, only if you give your express permission.
